So a month ago, sometime after I last posted, I saw the 1966 Batman movie.  It is the best movie ever.  Period.  It's so deliciously campy that a fun time was had by all who watched it.

I'll give you a hint about the upcoming Firefox 2 alphas.  There's a new tabbed browsing that pissed me off for a few days.  Each tab now has an individual close button, which means if you reach up to where the old tab close button use to be, and you have a bunch of tabs open, suddenly you're closing a completely different tab than you meant.  I'm past that now, however, and I've gotten used to the per-tab buttons, so it's not insurmountable.

The biggest news, however?  I had my 15 minute French oral presentation, in which I talked about the Algerian fight for independence from France, answered questions and shot the breeze by talking about Australia for 5 minutes.  All in completely spontaneous French.  Fun.

Even bigger news is that I finally ordered my turntables tonight, for $450 (including mixer and headphones).  I've got speakers to attach them to, and I'm pumped.  I should be getting it all on Friday if all goes well.

I am a d20

You are the large, round, friendly d20! (You probably didn't know this, but the shape of the twenty-sided die is called an Icosahedron.) You are the friendly, outgoing, outspoken, leader of friends. You are often looked up to, even though you don't normally deserve it. Most other types secretly wish they were you, and you'd give them tips on how, if only you had a clue yourself. Your charisma is often all you need, but you have your occasional moments of brilliance as well--just never when it's actually needed. You are the all-around good guy, a dependable chum, a respectable foe, and an inspiration to those who need one. Who says you can't get by on a smile and good looks alone?

Take the quiz at dicepool.com

Now, what I like the most about this is not only that the result was pretty correct (excluding good looks of course), but this text following it:

This survey is completely scientific. Despite the mind-boggling complexity of mankind, the billions of distinctly different personalities found on Earth can easily be divided into seven simple categories that correspond to the five Platonic solids, a pseudo polyhedron, and whatever the hell a d100 is. The results of this quiz should be considered not only meaningful but also infallible, and pertinent to your success as a fully realized individual. If you feel the results of this examination do not match your perceived personality, you should take whatever drastic measures are needed to cram your superego back into proper alignment, as described by the quiz results.

And if you believe that, we have some really great critical-hit insurance to sell you.

Finally, a meme that doesn't take itself seriously!

You're a LiveJournal Fiend!

You're into LiveJournal, big time... just not as much as your friends.

Still, you've LJ'ed from work - and made posts about what you had for dinner. Sicko!

You may be safe from the clutches of LJ - or maybe you're just are an adept liar!

It's true :( I have far too many friends, it's tricky to keep up with everyone.

I was planning to spend tonight (and the rest of the weekend) playing Half-Life 2, but looks like the latest Steam update has put the kaibosh on that idea. I guess I'll just have to revel in my lack of homework through other means.

"Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have fewer than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much:"

Women want me )

I like how it's impossible for me to get to bed before 3am.  I don't think I've gone to bed earlier than that in the past two weeks, and I really wish that I could force myself to turn in at 11:00 pm or something.  It doesn't happen, though.

I said goodbye to Will today, and he showed me the movie from Final Fantasy VIII (the one with the rockets and invading armies and stuff, I haven't played the game so I can't be more specific) set to Thunderstruck by AC/DC.  It's kind of scary how well it syncs up.  In turn, I fished out his Matrix Reloaded, found It's Raining Men (the Triple M Musical Challenge version), skipped to the Burly Brawl scene and pressed play on both.  Man, it works so well, I'm going to get the song tonight, grab the movie from a friend, get them done by the end of the weekend, post them online and give the movie back before I go.  This is too good to miss.

Oh rooney

I saw the last 15 minutes of Spooks, and it looks like a pretty decent show.  I like the feel and look of it, and the way the events were portrayed, but I won't watch it because I don't watch TV anymore.

I'm on the second-last essay of my English program, exactly two weeks until we leave the country.  I'm going to be finishing IB math in Fiji, it looks like.

I sent off postcards to [livejournal.com profile] phyxius149, [livejournal.com profile] gamurgurl and [livejournal.com profile] freestylerfunk today, along with 7 other people.  That's over $11 in postage, so they'd better appreciate them >:(

I still have one more postcard for anyone that wants it, it's from 1992 and features an animal that's probably extinct by now, but it's still a postcard!

I'm at the point in my life where I want to eat, breathe, sleep, etc. coding.  I want to talk code with everybody, I want to debug, I want to discuss, design, determine, other words beginning with the letter D.  Do you know someone like this?  Do they have a form of internet messaging?  Would they like to get in touch with a 15-year code enthusiast who would love someone to query about bugs, share in successes, etc.?  I know I'd jump at the chance.

Yeah, here's another carriage return for you.

An excellent hack demonstration article

I knew the theory of a lot of this stuff from reading 'Hacking Exposed,' this was quite an interesting article to read.

I'm getting my braces off tomorrow (today?) and I'll post before and after pictures.  2 years, I think it's just about time!

Tee hee hee, how appropriate that Alyssa's the sword fighter...

I just got back from a band concert. We played pretty poorly, nobody seemed to know what they were doing and we only sounded marginally better than the rest of the program (grade 1-6 school bands!) The hardest song, Oregon by Jacob de Haan, started off the best, then our drummer got 8 bars ahead. That's bad, because Oregon is divided up into 8 bar sections, therefore for almost the rest of the song he was playing the wrong rhythm (fast, driving beat in the slow and moving bit.) This put off the rest of the band, and we only formed back together haflway through when there's a really obvious, exciting bit that I started off really loud in and quieted down as more people started playing again. I won't say it turned out Ok, because it didn't, but we hung in there. I guess. Only two more performances to go!

13. When's the last time you saw me?
14. Ever wanted to tell me something but couldn't?
15. Are you going to put this on your blog and see what I say about you?

Yeah, it's 2 am and I didn't feel like spending the time to write anything with actual substance.  I've been trying to work out alpha blending with SDL for a while now, I'm sort of getting there.  I'll be putting a finished program up + source pretty soon, I'm pretty proud of it (despite the code's increasing sloppiness as it got larger).

Also I'm 99.94% complete on a DJ Gt mix and it's pissing me off because it's hung there for two hours now.

This is something funny. You laugh at funny stuff. )

In other news, I had my second day at Blackbutt yesterday.  I was attacked by a ferocious cockatoo and had to beat him back with a broom, I got to feed Suzie the koala from a syringe and I should be able to handfeed the tawny frogmouths next week.  I hope I don't lose a finger in the process.
