I definitely found it confusing at first!
There's a few tutorials for the DSP screen around. It's certainly possible to:
1. get a Line In into the kx system
2. expose it as an ASIO source
3. buzz-effect the crap out of it.
4. pipe it back into kx via ASIO adapter
