Somebody's gonna take the fall for this Calavera, and it ain't gonna be me!

I got myself in a hacking mood after school and polished off my level editor.  It's now in a useable state again, after I got rid of the mess of memory-related errors caused by my previous code-oriented post.  That means that I can finally start adding cool new stuff like entities and objects, and optimize the history storage (which currently profiles at 100% of execution time!)  Unfortunately I'm leaving for camp in under two weeks.  Fortunately, that gives me two months to plan out exactly what I want in my editor and game! Also unfortunately, the Songbird public SVN will probably open up in my absence. I am really interested in getting dirty in that project; It might be easier to break into than Firefox, at least. I need something of substance to talk to prospective employers about in the future.

I feel like playing Grim Fandango again.

What do you think about Songbird? It's an interesting project, but I'm so sure about the Mozilla integration. There's something about a hybrid music player and web browser that bothers me.

Maybe it's just me, but I think it's overkill.

I'm thinking that I like the integration for things like checking what song is playing on DI.fm. A small thing, but it's still an annoyance to have to open up Firefox just to load one page.

It does make me wonder about the size and speed of the overall package, though.

Right, as bloated as Firefox is, it is rather surprising that they went in that direction.

TWO MONTHS OF CAMP?

you northerners are bleedin' insane.

you're still bleedin' insane.

and i pity anyone counselled by you :P

(actually that's not true, william speaks highly of your wisdom, and william is always right)

everyone I talk to makes the same assumption as you

All I do is watch over kids for a week and build relationships. Then I send them a postcard a week later.

oh, so the kids aren't there for two months?

that's a whole lot better...

but on the other hand kinda mass-produced :s Rob Hanks was telling us about a similar set up somewhere or other in the US, the place invented the 'learning group' structure (as opposed to small groups). apparently the NSW youth unit sent a bunch of people over there about five years ago to learn how they did it.
as we were sitting there preparing for a one-off camp, it struck me as a really idea, just repeating the same formula over and over again. doesn't it put you kinda outside of the whole thing and give the whole experience a bit of a mechanical feeling?

i don't doubt you'll be good at it, though.

one of the things i remember most clearly with regard to you, is a bunch of us lying around in the park in Broken Hill, you and Will just lying there and occaisionally asking questions to make other people talk. Until one of you tried it on the other, and you ended up in this contest for the right to be the Designated Listener and Absorber.
which, if you've ever seen Dogma, reminds me of Rufus' description of Jesus.

man, that ncyc trip was made of a million good memories.

And I would say that this camp isn't really mass produced. Each week is different: teen week, peewee camp, specialty camp, music and arts camp, adventure camp, and more! They don't change year to year, but the staff and themes change (also each week has a different theme, too!) It's a whole new experience for every single camper every year, even if they go to multiple sessions!

and a variety of not so good ones... or maybe that was just me.

mkay. sounds like they'll be keepin' you on your toes!
